Are you looking for the right credit card for your lifestyle – without the annual fee?? Look no further than the Blue Cash Everday® Card from American Express. It provides some of the best cash back rates available today from our partners.

For a limited time, this card boasts an unbelievable 10% cash back at U.S. restaurants for the first 6 months, up to $200 back. It also offers 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets, making this the perfect credit card for buying groceries. There is even unlimited 2% back at U.S. gas stations and department stores which is the highest unlimited rate throughout the year in those categories, and 1% cash back everywhere else.

These cash back rates make this the best no annual fee cash back card we’ve reviewed.

If you have normal spending patterns by frequently making purchases at U.S. restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations, then this card is perfect for you. But we at CompareCards decided to take a deeper dive into it’s benefits (and drawbacks) to help you make the right decision.

Highlights

A lot of cash back credit cards are similar, but in terms of reward percentages and sign up bonuses the Blue Cash Everyday card wins. To start, you’ll receive $100 bonus if you spend just $1,000 in the first 3 months of having this card. Using this credit card for normal expenses like groceries, gas, utilities or restaurants and anything you purchase from Amazon, you should reach the initial $1,000 within the first 3 months and net the extra $100 along with the rewards you’ll earn from those purchases.

You also earn a generous 3% cash back at US supermarkets on the first $6,000 spent in grocery purchases each year, and 1% back after that. According to the USDA, an average U.S. family of 4 spends around $800 per month on groceries. That alone is almost $300 in rewards per calendar year!

If those huge rewards from groceries and dining aren’t enough for you, the Blue Cash Everyday card also offers unlimited 2% back at U.S. gas stations such as Exxon, Shell, BP and unlimited 2% back at select U.S. department stores like Sears, Kohl’s, Nordstrom and many more.

These rewards are among the highest for both gas and department rewards year round. You’ll also earn unlimited 1% back everywhere else. You can easily redeem these rewards as statement credit, gift cards, or at the online shopping mall.

Still unsure if you should apply or not? This card also comes with a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 months of having this card. This can help you pay down credit card balances or new purchases without owing interest fees. The ongoing APR is 13.49%-23.49% variable depending on your creditworthiness.

If you enjoy dining out, shopping at U.S. supermarkets / department stores, commute to work, or need to purchase gifts and don’t want to to worry about interest for 12 months, this credit card fits the bill.

Extra Perks

This is a chip enabled card, making it easier for international travelers to use this card overseas, especially in Europe. The Blue Cash Everyday card also grants you access to these features:

  • Extended warranties on eligible purchases, purchase protection and return protection

  • Car rental loss/damage insurance, roadside assistance hotline, global assist hotline and travel accident insurance

  • Entertainment Access® – exclusive access to ticket presales and card member-only events in a city near you.

A Few Things to Consider

This card doesn’t have as high of rewards as it’s counter-part, the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express, which offers 6% back on groceries (on up to $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1%), 3% back on gas and select department stores and 1% on everything else. However the Blue Cash Everyday card doesn’t have an annual fee. If you’re not a fan of annual fee’s and love cash back rewards, then the Blue Cash Everyday card is our top choice for you.

Also, you should be aware that superstores like Amazon, Target and Wal-Mart are not included in the 3% cash back supermarket list, as well as specialty stores like wine shops or fish markets.

Is the Blue Cash Everyday® from American Express right for you?

If your spending habits are like most Americans and you love getting cash back for groceries, gas and department stores, then yes.

This cash back credit card is made for those with excellent credit who spend money on groceries, gas and select department stores. While it does have an annual fee, the cash back rewards will more than make up for it. When you add in 0% intro APR for an entire year, you can see why this credit card was an easy choice for us to recommend.

Overall, the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express is our top rated cash back credit card for rewards without an annual fee.
