Randstad Holding reported mixed third-quarter results on Tuesday, with pretax profit falling, but revenue and gross profit both rising as its European operations grew.

The Netherlands-based staffing company made a pretax profit of 217.7 million euros ($255.8 million) in the three months to Sept. 30, down 9% from the year before. Stripping out exceptional costs, pretax profit came to EUR244.6 million.

However, revenue increased to EUR5.87 billion from EUR5.35 billion, posting growth of 11% in Europe, 10% in the Rest of the World region and remaining stable in North America.
