Chinese telecommunications services provider Huawei said it saw a 15 percent on-year jump in revenue for the six months ending in June, with solid growth across its carrier, enterprise and consumer business groups.
Total revenue for the first six months of 2017 came in at 283.1 billion yuan ($42.04 billion) and operating margin was 11 percent. Huawei said it expected to round out the year in a positive financial position.
In all of last year, the carrier business saw 24 percent growth in revenue to about 290.6 billion yuan. It is currently working on collaborative innovation in 5G and 4.5G mobile connectivity that’s growing in demand due to increasing high-quality video consumption and the rise of the “Internet of Things.”
Last year, revenue for the enterprise business was up 47 percent — it provides information and communication technologies including cloud computing, big data analytics, storage and servers among others.
The consumer business group, which is more widely known outside China since Huawei is the third-largest smartphone vendor by shipment, grew 44 percent last year. In May, a report from Gartner said Huawei had about 9 percent of the global market share in the first quarter of 2017, behind leaders Samsung and Apple.
More recently, research firm Canalys said Huawei remained the market leader for smartphones within China despite a 3 percent annual decline in device shipments in the mainland.
